Driving whilst disqualified

It is no defence that you did not know that you were disqualified.

You are disqualified if you have been disqualified for a period with a requirement to take an extended re-test and you ignore the conditions of your provisional licence after the expiry of the disqualification period.

It is a criminal offence and can carry up to six months imprisonment plus disqualification from driving.

If your vehicle contributes to the death of someone if you are driving whilst disqualified then you are facing a maximum of two years’ imprisonment and a minimum 12 months disqualification.

If you are disqualified you are automatically uninsured.
